The spice quarter in the brewery quarter off st mary's street does great curries, its a really beautiful restaurant, the staff are very helpful and the food is delicious. Not the cheapest restaurant but well worth a visit.
As regards the restaurant in the bay, there is the spice route in the red dragon centre. Its got a huge range of food from lots of different asian countries. It's more expensive than ChinaChina but the food is better and its a much more exciting experience.

Balti Cuisine - 103 Woodville Rd , Cardiff - 0871 5290531 this is a very friendly atmosphere and student pricing. Heart of the student area and a 20% discount for eating in. A place a bit more upper scale would be Cardiff Bay restaurants.
